Step 2: Initial Interview

Initial interviews are generally conducted by telephone. Initial interviews are designed to help us learn more about your interest in our company and the role, your experience and career goals, and how well you may fit within the Zachry organization.

Based upon the outcome of initial interviews and assessments, final interviews are scheduled with members of the Zachry team.

Step 3: Reference Assessment

Zachry utilizes an online assessment to gather information about your skills and accomplishments that may not surface during interviews. The assessments are important in determining fit, qualifications and the direction of interviews.

The process is simple. You will receive an email from Zachry's assessment vendor, instructing you on how to complete the process.

The system sends an automated email to each of your references with the assessment questions, and the anonymous responses are aggregated into an overall report.
  • The online system is available 24/7 to you and to your references.
  • It should take no more than 5 to 10 minutes of your time, once you have your reference information assembled.
  • It should take your references no longer than 10 minutes of their time to respond.
Other Assessments

Other assessments such as skills tests (Excel, typing, etc.) may be required, depending upon the position.

Step 4: Final Interview



Zachry's interview process is collaborative and comprehensive. Utilizing team interviews or a series of one-on-one meetings, we seek to understand your strengths, your accomplishments, and the ways you approach challenges that arise on a day-to-day basis.

We take a behavioral approach to interviewing; past performance and behaviors are key to predicting success in your new role with Zachry. You can expect that you will meet with several employees involved in the interview process. The interviewers often work in teams, or sometimes one-on-one. Occasionally, a panel interview will be scheduled. The interview team works to learn as much as possible about you, but can also provide you with information about Zachry's business, your opportunities within the organization, and what it's like to be a part of the Zachry team.

Most interviews last around 45 to 60 minutes. You may have a series of several interviews on your interview day, unless an interview panel is utilized.

Prior to your interview, it may be helpful to:
  • Review your resume.
  • Think about past successes and challenges in your career and in your life.
  • Prepare to talk about your past experience, and think of examples which illustrate and support your experiences.
When final interviews are completed, the interview team will meet to discuss outcomes and arrive at a collective decision about your possible role on the Zachry team.
