Zachry Group is currently looking for Environmental ProfessionalsWe are looking for a range of qualifications ranging from entry level graduate environmental professionals to experienced seasoned Environmental Managers in the industry.

Position Summaries:

Environmental Manager

The Manager, Environmental Services manages and administrates corporate environmental compliance assurance programs and provides engineering services to divisions, projects, departments and other company entities. Supervises environmental work performed by other Technical Services Department and outside consultants; provides management direction on environmental compliance activities, budgets, staffing and non-compliance liability; maintains current expertise on environmental law and regulations; and provides support services to assure compliance is maintained. As part of the Technical Services Department engineering staff, also manages and provides other engineering, design and technical support to all company entities.

Environmental Coordinator

A Environmental Coordinatorassists Project Management and various Crafts and Departments as necessary to maintain environmental compliance. Under the direction of the Project Manager at the construction site, the successful incumbent will assists with all project site environmental compliance activities as required by government regulations, permits obtained by the Project Owner and delegated by contract to ZII, permits obtained by ZII, its affiliates or partnering companies, and other environmental requirements as may be approved by either the Project Manager or the Corporate Environmental Stewardship Team.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

Environmental Manager

  • Corporate Management - Environmental Compliance/Non-Compliance
    • Manage and coordinate Company environmental compliance work performed
    • Contract outside company consultants for assistance.
    • Prepare and manage Technical Services Department environmental budget and business plan items and advise management on programs and needs to maintain compliance.
    • Review and approve charges from environmental agencies for inspections, license renewals. 
    • Provide assistance to the Legal Department, Risk Management Department and other support departments as needed on environmental issues.
    • Procure and maintain corporate environmental licenses and registrations. 
  • Environmental Compliance Regulation Authority
    • Stay abreast of new and changing environmental regulations by reviewing federal and state registers, contacting agencies and reading various resource publications.
    • Notify various company entities of details of compliance requirements, update training manuals and maintain regulation information files.
    • Prepare lobbyists input from the construction industry viewpoint to government agencies on proposed regulations. 
  • Project Support 
    • Manage and provide support for project and facility environmental compliance activities including the following: 
      • Prepare Storm Water Permit Plans, spill prevention plans, notifications, annual reports and other documents required by government agencies and regulations.
      • Near and Long Term Liability Impact Management at minimum cost. 
      • Prepare environmental plans and documents required by customers and provide liaison directly with customer on special environmental issues.
      • Research and respond to questions on compliance. 
      • Conduct telephone and site visit reviews to assure compliance is being managed.
      • Provide engineering services to support compliance needs. 
      • Assist with procuring qualified environmental consulting and laboratory services. 
      • Oversee and maintain corporate environmental records processes. 
      • Develop standardized processes, forms, pollution plans and other documents to simplify and provide uniformity to environmental compliance processes.

Environmental Coordinator

  • Assists Project on compliance issues
  • Assists implementation and update of the Site Environmental Management Plan
  • Daily site inspections including preparation of daily reports or logs
  • Assists with permit management and implementation
  • Assist coordination of corrective action for compliance deficiencies
  • Spill response and mitigation including assistance with incident reports
  • Assist personnel orientation and training in environmental responsibilities
  • Assist Project  Management  with Subcontractor environmental commitments and responsibilities
  • Waste storage, handling, and disposal management assistance according to regulations
  • Petroleum storage and handling oversight including fuel storage tanks, drums and containers, lubricants, and other petroleum by-products
  • Assist with additional environmental responsibilities  as may be required
  • Assist with animal and endangered species control
  • Assist with material record keeping and storage oversight including Flammable Storage Cabinets
  • Work outdoors 60 to 75%
  • Others duties as assigned in support of the project or corporate initiatives

Required Qualifications:

Environmental Manager

  • 3+ years experience as environmental professional in industrial construction or equivalent working environment.
  • High School Graduate or GED Personable and able to work with all levels of construction project crafts and management personnel to successfully coordinate and complete work requirements.
  • Self-starter able to take charge with minimum supervision
  • Advanced training or education in Environmental or Technical Field
  • Knowledgeable of the many construction project site environmental compliance issues and applicable regulations including but not limited to Storm Water Best Management Practices; Spill Prevention and Management, wetlands, process water control, waste storage and disposal, and fuel storage
  • Computer skills in MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, etc…

Environmental Coordinator

  • Self-starter able to take charge with minimum supervision
  • Advanced training or education in Environmental or Technical Field
  • Knowledgeable of the many construction project site environmental compliance issues and applicable regulations including but not limited to Storm Water Best Management Practices; Spill Prevention and Management, wetlands, process water control, waste storage and disposal, and fuel storage
  • Computer skills in MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, etc…

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Environmental Manager

Environmental Coordinator

  • Level 1A Fundamentals (Blue Card) Certification from the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Related Field
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in construction and environmental work is preferred

 

Physical Demands

Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, video chat and software systems.  Position will include visits to maintenance sites and industrial facilities requiring mobility (on ground and at heights) and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and work boots.

 

Work Environment

Employee will work in multiple environments including an office, warehouse and in a trailer or building on sites.  On work sites noise levels will be moderate to high.  Job site will contain: light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools, people standing, walking, sitting, signaling and talking, bells whistles and alarms.
