Zachry Group is seeking a PROJECT SAFETY MANAGER, for our BASF Jobsite in Geismar, La. to perform job duties and responsibilities safely, efficiently and accurately while assisting project management in coordinating and supervising work activities for all disciplines at a large industrial ‎construction project.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain overall administrative training program for the project safety department

  • Track, update, enter training date into the system of record, reporting the status of safety training

  • Commit to enforcing Zachry values and safety rules and regulations

  • Identify and schedule all training opportunities

  • Understand how to read and interpret Technical Manuals in order to determine work procedures

  • Regularly attends project safety meetings and serves to advise craft supervision and employees of specific work areas and conditions that require safety attention stressing compliance with Company and regulatory safety procedures

  • Inspects project work activities and serves to advise superintendents and foremen of possible hazards and assists all supervision in maintaining a safe work environment

  • Complete projects and other duties as assigned

Field Safety, Orientation Training, SME Training, Accident Investigation, CYBORG Entry, OSHA Compliance Audits, Observation Audits,

Must have good working knowledge of OSHA guidelines; will need to become familiar with jobsite guidelines and be able to teach this to other employees as needed

  • High school diploma

  • Training experience/ Construction experience/ Safety experience

  • Demonstrated Industrial maintenance history experience

  • Organization and time management

  • Must have good problem-solving abilities

  • Must have good aptitude and manual dexterity

  • Good Reading Comprehension

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with different levels of the organization including our client. Ability to excel in Crucial conversations

  • Ability to work with others – team player including good communication skills with co-workers and supervisors

  • Must be able to meet all physical demands and pre-employment conditions

  • Ability to build effective relationships, field knowledge, great communicator

  • Must be willing to work off shifts and over-time when necessary. Employee may be called out in the middle of the night

  • Must be computer literate in these areas (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Outlook experience also preferred

  • Access to the jobsite requires meeting site clearance requirements

  • Identifying personnel that will participate; equipment needed; locations that will be used to conduct training (internal or external)

  • Clear MVR Check

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in field safety management

  • Degree- emphasis in safety preferred

  •  

5 plus years, experience Occupational Health, ie gas monitoring, surveillance programs is a plus

 

OSHA 10 and 30 preferred

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, use of arm/hand steadiness, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, multi limb coordination, oral expression, and comprehension. Position assignment will be based on construction sites and industrial facilities requiring mobility (on ground and at heights) and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and work boots. May be required to lift, carry and move objects safely.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employee will work in multiple environments including an office, warehouse and in a trailer or building on construction sites.  On construction sites noise levels will be moderate to high.  Job site will contain: light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools, people standing, walking, sitting, signaling and talking, bells whistles and alarms. Weather conditions ranging from warm/hot – cool/cold and occasional rain.  May be required to work in close, confined spaces or in different elevations for a long period of time. Noise levels will be moderate to high.
