POSITION SUMMARY:  We are currently looking for a talented Controls Engineer to join our talented Electrical Department in Champaign, Illinois.  This is a great opportunity to get involved with exciting and challenging projects with long lasting customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Investigate/survey field applications and as-built conditions (working in manufacturing plants)
• Provide design documents for MV and LV power feeds, to equipment/control panels, motors, VFD’s, etc.
• Provide control system/schematics design.
• Specify instruments and field devices.
• Develop installation bid/construction documents (scopes of work, bills of material, drawings)
• Participate in client/contractor meetings, providing meeting minutes/notes on occasion.
• Develop sequences of operations for programming systems.
• Design and develop PLC software using Allen Bradley/Rockwell.
• Design and develop HMI’s using Wonderware.
• Debug and test PLC and HMI software.
• Provide on-site start-up I/O checkout, Commissioning, Start-up support at client sites.
• Perform critical design reviews of other software projects.
• Demonstrate and utilize software development best practices for successful completion of projects.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or other related field (preferred)
• Associate’s Degree in Industrial Controls/Automation or related field (will be considered)
• 2 – 10 years of experience designing electrical/control systems and programing PLCs.
• AutoCAD capabilities is a plus.

• Proficient  with Electric Engineering Computer Software

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience working as an engineer/controls technician in the Industrial/Manufacturing Industry is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 
Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, video chat and software systems. Position will include visits to industrial facilities requiring mobility (on ground and at heights) and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hardhat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and work boots.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Employee will work in multiple environments including industrial/manufacturing facilities (up to 75% of time) and office. Some of the installation and start-up activities will be on weekends/holidays and occasional “off-shifts”. 
In manufacturing facilities, noise levels will be moderate to high.
 Job sites may contain the following: light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools, people standing, walking, sitting, signaling, and talking. Noise levels vary and may include bells, whistles, and alarms.
